Dear Timber Lane Pool Members,
Happy Spring to
everyone!!! The time has come to prepare
for yet another wonderful season of swimming, BBQing, Swim Team, and a slew of
other awesome activities at Timber Lane Swim Club. As most of us are still
digging out of the cold and snow, and working with our children as school
begins to wind down, your Timber Lane Board of Directors has been working
diligently to ensure the 2011 season is even more successful than years
past.
I would like to first start
off, as I seem to every year, with big CONGRATULATIONS to our 2010 Timber Lane
Tiger Sharks. Not only did they go
undefeated in 2010, but because of this accomplishment we have been invited to
participate in the “A” Division this season.
This means our swimmers, our coaches and our parents get to enjoy a
season full of practices and races that will challenge every one of us involved
in Swim Team. And rest assured, we will
be entering this season even more prepared than ever to face these challenges!!! As in years past, we hold high the
expectation of our Swim Team, and also as years past, we know they will meet
and exceed our lofty expectations this season!
GO TIGER SHARKS!
In 2010, we had limited the
amount of work that was done from a grounds and maintenance perspective. This doesn’t mean that we didn’t have any
work to do. Among other things, we had
to replace some key pieces at our pool to make sure we were functional
throughout the season. The biggest
impact was replacing our pool motor that broke at the beginning of our
season. This, along with some other
unexpected expenses, put us in a rather deep hole regarding our finances.
This being said, we still have
some work to do on the grounds and the buildings. We are not going to sit back and be
complacent. We are working hard to
ensure that when you come to the pool for the first time this season, your
first reaction will be “WOW”, followed by a few “This is great” and a couple
“Job well done” comments.
In order to do this, we have put
in place a few things that will help us accomplish this:
- As
you have already been made aware, we have voted upon and approved a yearly
assessment fee of $75.00 per family.
As some of you have already sent in your assessment fees, many have
not. I am asking you again to
please make sure you get this in as soon as possible. These funds will help us to not only
make some glaring and visible improvements, but should also help to
increase our net balance as we move into 2011. Also, key to note: the $75 assessment fee is mandatory, but if you
are so committed to do so, we would gladly take more!!! Donations to the pool go a long way to
improving the grounds, and ensuring that potential new members get to see
how great our pool is!
- Membership
push. We have a new chair for
membership, Larry Haas. His contact
information is on our website, and is looking to hear from you about
thoughts/ideas/processes that we can put into place to increase our
membership. The ability for our
pool to succeed this year and into the future resides primarily on
increased membership. Without the
help of our current members, this will be an uphill battle that we can ill
afford to lose. Please do everything
in your power to help us bring in new members.
- In
line with the above Membership, the Board of Directors knows that this is
difficult. So we are currently
offering discounts on your current assessments/dues for families that you
refer to Timber Lane and that join our community. You can find more information on our new
referral program on our website as well (under the Membership Link)
Along with the above, the Board
is also working on a Timber Lane “wish list”.
These would be items that we are in need of at the pool, as well as
donations that will help keep the pool running without having to dip into our
excess of funds. Anything and everything
will most likely be accepted, but you may have some of these things at your
home that you are not using, and could be of value to our Pool. More information will be sent in the future.
We are also still pushing our
fundraising at Timber Lane. Dinner
nights out, coupons to purchase items at stores like Five and Below. Anything and everything that will bring more money
into the pool is fair game. Tracy
Goorland is our fundraising chair, and would love to hear of thoughts and ideas
you may have on how to continue to add to our list of fundraising ideas.
I would like to urge
all of you to volunteer. Volunteering is one easy way to help out our pool and
community without having to pay for extra services. Come to our Spring Clean Up, volunteer for
heading our social events, and sign up to assist with Swim Team
activities. We hope everyone will do a
small part in this effort, so that we can all enjoy the pool, the swim team,
and the facilities at Timber Lane.
Finally,
I would like to thank everyone involved in Timber Lane….from the parents and
children, to the Coaches and Swim Team families. And especially to all of our volunteers, who
help week in and week out to make sure Timber Lane is the place to be!
I hope you are all excited about the upcoming
season as I am. The opportunity for growth and newfound excitement is
there for ALL of us in 2011. And I look forward to spending the summer
with you and your families.
Sincerely,
Alex Ciotti
